When you work with a brand long enough, you’ll feel as if it’s your brand. You want to do all you can to help it grow and expand beyond the shores of Malaysia. You’ll be gritting your teeth when you care so much for the brand but the brand owners or the staffs do not.

My recent experience with a brand event has drawn me towards the brand. I talked about it’s flyers, paper bag, umbrella, it’s corporate profile, contact cards… I bragged about how great the brand is and how great the product quality is… But at the end of the day, it’s not my brand.

It’s like… you are the contractor, and you help furnish the so run-down house. At the end of the day, you marvel at its beauty, you want the house so badly… But you still need to handover the key and property to the owner.

This is life… we don’t always get what we want. And sometimes we attached ourselves too much with things that don’t belong to us. In the end, we are the one who will get hurt…

Learning to let go is a standpoint I’m learning to grasp. As Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch said… KILL YOUR DARLINGS! There’s a time to take, and there’s time to give…

So, I got an early birthday gift on 24th July. Two very cute guppy fish and a very tasty lipstick from SkinFood. These were mysteriously placed on my workstation without a name and I was just so excited. You see, I love surprises! So I was smiling the whole morning, but deep in my heart, I know these gifts were from my family – my family in SG.

Now, today… I received a belated birthday gift! Just that, this time, the sender was mentioned, SG + us (my darlings in CW Division). It’s a book – The Ultimate Book of Mind Maps – which I had wanted to buy long time ago.

This bunch of people is just so… AMAZING. Really, I wonder whether amazing is good enough to describe them. They are so…. WOW!

I’ve never had such great colleagues (ok, I know this is my first job, but hey, no harm)… friends who’re so close… like a family.

I don’t know what to say, but…

I think we did! And now Chinese still burn the papers and candles and joss sticks, contributing to the already bad air pollution.
I was hoping for a better day when all I smell is burning all around. It makes me sick and I’m sure it’s not making the world a better place to live in…
They’ve gotta think of something smarter than burning papers and all. In a way, they are burning their money away. If they’ve got so much money to burn, why not give to the needy.

Something ought to be done here.
